High Street, approx 1911/15
|
In
1881, High Street was home to two pubs - the
Spread Eagle and the
Three Horseshoes - and two
grocer's shops.
The
photograph opposite shows High Street, viewed from The Cross. During the war,
evacuees lived in the cottages on the right. These cottages have since been
demolished, and replaced by garages. The little girl in the dark dress is
Florence Davenport.
